New housing site threat to Theale!

The area between Theale and the M4 has been identified as a possible site for up to 450 homes by West Berkshire Council. The area comprises:

This housing allocation will be on top of the 350 homes at Lakeside already given planning permission by a government inspector. The total of 800 houses would increase the size of Theale by nearly 70% and would:

Another site has been proposed for Pincents Hill, on the other side of the gap. That site is on the hill behind Savacenter.

The site is described on page 98 (the page number at the top) of the West Berkshire Core Strategy

The public meeting held on 18th June to discuss the proposals voted overwhelmingly that there should be no more housing development in Theale.
